The scene
A 12 × 9 m convenience store on a street corner. The counter is visible as you walk in, with the self-checkout and an ATM beside it. Further in, two shelving runs stand back to back in the middle; drinks chillers line the back wall and fresh food the side wall. Every aisle is at least 1.2 m wide.
When it helps
- Before opening or refitting, to see how much shelving and how many chillers the floor takes.
- You need to agree quantities and positions with equipment suppliers and shopfitters.
- You want to check the width of every aisle.
What’s already laid out
- Drinks on the back wall: two four-door glass chillers and one three-door.
- Open chillers for fresh food along the left wall.
- Two double-sided shelving runs, back to back, with aisles of 1.2 m or more.
- A 3.6 m counter with two tills, with self-checkout and an ATM beside it.
- Plus 9 figures for scale and circulation. If you don’t need them, delete them all in one go.
Making it yours
- Press “Start from this one”. The template opens in the editor as your own drawing; whatever you change, the original template stays as it was.
- Shelving length and the number of shelves are adjustable; copy a run to add another.
- Measure aisle widths with a dimension line — the number changes as you drag the shelving.
- For a different unit, change the width and depth first, then put the chillers back against the walls.
- For anything missing, press Components at the bottom: search by name and click to place it. Select what you don’t need and press Delete.
- When the layout is right, press Download at the top right to save it as an image, then drop it into a deck or send it as it is.
What to settle first
- Lay out the wall chillers first. They need power and drainage, so their position is the most constrained.
- Then the shelving: two runs back to back, then measure the aisles.
- Put the counter where it is seen from the door, with the machines beside it.
- Drop a few people in and see whether the till queue blocks an aisle.
What you end up with
- A layout drawing
- Download it as a PNG or JPG, at a resolution that holds up in a deck or a proposal.
- An object list
- The name and quantity of everything on the drawing. Change the drawing and the list changes with it.
- A length for every cable
- Power and signal runs have a length as soon as they are drawn. Order from those numbers.
- A link to send
- Once you sign in, the drawing can become a link that opens in any browser.
